Mike is an experienced coach. In addition to one-to-one coaching on technical issues, he has a personal mission – to help people identify and exploit their individual strengths in their everyday lives and work.
Here are two testimonials from clients:
Mike has a natural ability to inspire and energise people from various backgrounds which is driven by his genuine desire to help people discover their ‘true’ talents and realise (or exceed) their full potential. What makes him unique are his fantastic (and very entertaining) storytelling skills which he uses to cement ideas and offer unique perspectives in the form of analogies. Such qualities give you a real competitive edge when positioning who you are and what you have to offer with others, making him an excellent coach and mentor. Resh Patel
Mike fortuitously became my coach and mentor during a transitional period in my career when I was interested in a move outside of academia, where I had been employed as a Research Scientist for about 5 years after completing my PhD. I didn’t feel as if I was reaching my full potential in this role and work environment.
I hadn’t anticipated the challenges I would face with changing careers and the difficulty I would have in translating my key skills for prospective employers outside of academia. A friend of mine suggested that I should see a mentor since she had found the process useful. Right from the start I began to see that it was the right thing to do. Mike’s coaching sessions helped me to build my own self-awareness and better understand how to strategically plan my career. As a result, I approached the job searching with a new understanding of what I was looking for in roles and what I would personally be able to contribute to the posts. I discovered what I loved doing and what gave me energy in my work. This was beneficial in the interview process, as it allowed me to clearly communicate my skills and personal strengths. When I was faced with the dreaded question “Why should we give this job to you?” I already knew the answer, because I’d discovered my strengths in the sessions with Mike.
Ultimately, I think we all want to enjoy what we do, and we want to do it well. Mike’s coaching gave me clarity about my strengths and where I gained the most satisfaction from my work. I realised what I was looking for in my future career and how to approach the job searching. Mike’s attitude and natural approach to coaching meant I gained an enormous amount from the experience and it was absolutely one of the most worthwhile things I’ve done for my career. Jeremy Mitchell
